Any smart phone is sufficient to listen to our podcasts. In fact, you can also listen on your computer. Transferring the podcast to your portable mp3 player or mobile device is optional. You only need to subscribe to any given podcast one time. After that, new issues will automatically be downloaded to your computer.
You will need one of a wide variety of free programs known as “podcatching” software. If you already own a portable mp3 player, there is a good chance it came with similar software.

From here you can navigate quickly and easily through all content offered in Stitcher by tapping any of the designated icons on the Dashboard. To start listening to content from the dashboard you can:
- Go to the Front Page to stay on top of the latest headlines, or to check out the top trending shows on Stitcher.

Stitcher features thousands of shows from hundreds of major talk radio providers like NPR, CNN, Wall Street Journal and more.
- Tap the Live Radio icon to tune into thousands of live radio stations from where ever you are. Stitcher’s live radio section lets you easily find nearby stations, or browse stations by genre or location.
As you find the podcasts and stations you like, create your own personalized station directory using Favorites. Just press the yellow star while listening to automatically add the show to your favorites list and tune back in at any time in the future by visiting “My Favorites” from the dashboard.
on Android
Install Stitcher to your Android device through the Android Market. When you launch Stitcher you will be prompted to log in or create an account. Then you will be directed to a list of stations. You can choose a station either by topic, such as sports or comedy, or by content provider, such as BBC or CNN. Press the “Topics” tab along the top of the screen to view stations by topic, or press the “Sources” tab to view stations by content provider. Once you select a station under topics or sources, the show list for that station will load. You can select “Play All” from the menu to start at the beginning of the list or select a specific show to start the station at that point in the list. If you hear a show you like, press the star icon at the bottom of the player to add the show to your Favorites. To access your favorites, press the Favorites tab along the top of the screen. Once you are done listening to a show, the player automatically plays the next show in the lineup. If you use iTunes you may like this solution better. There is a free application called iTunes Agen that makes iTunes recongize other MP3 players. The whole idea of iTunes agent is that it makes iTunes able to synchronize with other MP3 players. This is a good way to subscribe to podcasts using iTunes and have them automatically sync with your BlackBerry. Personally I cannot test this solution since I hate iTunes but I have recommended it and installed it for a few users. I just hate all the catchy marketing speak that Apple uses such as “Smart Playlists.” What exactly is so smart about a playlist? Mac users are out of luck on this one because it is Windows only.
