Alyson: I was born in New York, 36 years old
.
Michael:
I was born in Connecticut, 41 years old.
Together: 8 years, married for 3 years.

When, Where and How did you meet your BF/GF/Wife/Husband?

  • Alyson: We met in San Francisco eight years ago and bonded over multi-syllabic words that start with the letter "Q". Like quotidian, quahog and querstimandtuib.

  • Michael: Yup.

What was your first impression of your partner?

  • Michael: The flowers I'm giving her match her shirt!

  • Alyson: Heeeey! Nice frames
It's not that we're shallow, it's just that when we met in person we had already been talking and laughing over the phone so we already knew we were funny, smart and charming…yeah, we're definitely not arrogant either.

When did you first know that you are falling in love with your partner?

  • Alyson: When we realized we shared a passion for making each day count.

What responses have your friends/family had to your relationship with your partner?

  • Alyson: They're all for it. | We've had nothing but love and support from our family and friends.

What stereotype(s) have you found to be TRUE or FALSE with your partner?

  • Michael: Alyson has an incredible sense of rhythm and she's rarely late.

  • Alyson: Michael does not wear sandals during winter, but he did "take a year off" during college.

What type music or favorite music artist do you enjoy | and your partner enjoy?

  • Alyson: Does making fun of Morrissey count? If not, we gonna get reeeeeally sad and sing in monotone about it.

What advice would you have for someone who is hesitant but would like to start an IR relationship?

  • Alyson & Michael: Finding love shouldn't be limited by who you know. Love can happen anywhere at anytime….think widely. Your brain might be the only obstacle to what your heart can discover. (We'll be selling motivational posters in 3…2…1…)

What is best advice you have ever received from your BF/GF/Wife/Husband?

  • Best advice from Alyson to Michael: Happiness is a choice.

  • Best advice from Michael to Alyson: There are no wrong choices (when it comes to ordering from the breakfast menu).

In May, Cheerios posted this new commercial on youtube. It sparked a firestorm of backlash. When Alyson and Micheal watched the video, They felt great to (finally) see a representation of their own family. As per the couple: "We created this site to publicly reflect the changing face of the American family." Micheal and Alyson collect photos of interracial couples and families to share with the world. "According to the 2008 census, 15% of new marriages are interracial and Nilla and I love 'em for that. It's a great website to see the rainbow of love no matter the race, color or creed. Have a look at their wonderful website http://wearethe15percent.com/
