- Troy: Winona, MN
Both of your age?
- Tiffany: I'm 26
- Troy: I'm 27
How did you two meet and what was your first impression(s)?
- Tiffany: We met in Minneapolis while I was working there for Minneapolis. Our first date was on a cold day in January at a coffee shop. We talked about everything under the sun, including a documentary on the typeface Helvetica. I thought, this guy is the most adorable, coolest nerd!

What has been the response from your families and friends in regards to dating outside of your race?
- Tiffany: I think I was more nervous about it all then anyone. I happened to meet his parents kind of by surprise when on a trip out to LA to meet up with him. They were absolutely lovely. Troy was one of the first white guys "brought home" in my family, but, after they met him, they loved him!

On the funny side: What stereotype(s) have you found to be true or false?
- Tiffany: food you've heard about white people eating is true, namely tomato soup with grilled cheese and green bean casserole.
- Troy: Tiffany is always noticing women's hair. Also she tends to take a relaxed view on what it means to be on time.
What advice would you have for someone thinking to get into or newly entered in an IR relationship?
- Tiffany: I don't think it takes much preparation other than just getting out there. Underneath it all, good people are just good people. For when you reach a racial divide, communication and empathy are very important. I think being open about our racial differences (often through humor) has been great for us.

What have you learn from one another or the best advice you have ever received from your partner?
- Tiffany: Troy has taught me to worry less, laugh more
- Troy: Tiffany has taught me to stop doubting myself.
