So you have probably seen or hear about the video which was was released on TMZ this week of former Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice punching the heck out of his then fiancee back in February 2014.
I ran into a Global News article this morning and the reaction on social media about Mr. & Mrs.Rice, The NFL ect… (you get the picture)
Now domestic violence is a subject that runs deep in my heart and I’m always open to talk about it. Not only does it heal me every time but hopefully I help someone have the courage to start planning their exist strategy in leaving their abuser. Thanks to Author of Confessions of a Church Girl Beverly Gooden or @bevtgooden on twitter for starting this hashtag (more on this here). It’s amazing that these 3 sets of words have inspired to talk about domestic violence and probably giving the courage to some women and men in getting themselves out of their toxic relationships.
Here are some tweets that just hit me deep:
I stayed because my pastor told me that God hates divorce. It didn’t cross my mind that God might hate abuse, too. #WhyIStayed

Because he didn’t hit me (at least not yet), and I didn’t know that emotional and verbal abuse are also #domesticviolence #WhyIStayed

#WhyIStayed he ended up leaving me and hasn’t seen our son since. Little did I know the next guy would be much worse.

#WhyIStayed Because he made me think that my reactions to his emotional abuse/neglect were just my being “crazy.”

#WhyIStayed He was my first & I was a native low self-esteem 15yr old . #WhyILeft My life would be like his mother or he was gonna kill me.

#WhyIStayed He made me believe this is love is & no one would want me. #WhyILeft because I yearn & beleive I deserve true love & happiness
